Hingham Select Board Approves $3.3 Million in Equipment Contracts and Year-End Transfers

HINGHAM — June 30, 2026 — Hingham Select Board unanimously approved more than $3.3 million in procurement agreements, year-end transfers, and opioid program spending at its June 30 meeting. Chair Liz Klein and members Julie Straley and Bill Ramsey authorized a $933,157.64 agreement with SAFE Boats International LLC for a replacement 31-foot patrol vessel for the Harbormaster — 75 percent funded by a $1.3 million federal port security grant — and a $200,000 agreement with Axon (d/b/a Skydio) for a drone-as-first-responder system, also grant-funded at 75 percent. Five DPW equipment contracts totaling roughly $1.1 million covered a new Kenworth tractor, a trash trailer, an international spreader truck, two Chevrolet dump trucks, and two John Deere wide-area mowers, all tied to the FY27 capital budget. The board also approved an $851,044 amendment to its TL Edwards roadway management contract, bringing that total to $1,051,044 and scheduling full-depth reconstructions on Cushing Street, Pioneer Road, Burr Street, Garrison Road, Hobart Street, and Gulf View Drive. A $148,828 FY27 opioid settlement budget was adopted, covering a 25-hour opioid coordinator, prevention programming, and 12 inpatient scholarship placements for Hingham residents; the town is rolling $557,319 in unspent settlement funds into the new fiscal year.
