Hingham Select Board funds roundabout design, pulls HMLP borrowing article from fall warrant. The board voted 3-0 to authorize an $86,500 contract amendment, not to exceed $198,700, for engineering work on the Main, Middle and Short Street roundabout, funded through Chapter 90 ahead of a December 31, 2027 deadline on a $1 million MassDOT Complete Streets grant. Board member Bill Ramsey called the intersection "extremely dangerous," while member Julie Strehle praised HMLP for "being relentless in their pursuit of getting all the data" before withdrawing its home rule petition for substation financing.
The board also approved a North Street parking restriction near Lincoln Street for the Fountain Square project, appointed Jim Broderick to the Water System Transition and Evaluation Committee through June 30, 2029, and honored departing Town Engineer JR Fry, who is leaving for a position in Cohasset.
