Hingham schedules October 29 Special Town Meeting for school roofs, utility work

Hingham Select Board calls October 29 Special Town Meeting for school and utility projects. The board unanimously scheduled the meeting at Hingham High School to vote on warrant articles for roof replacements at Plymouth River and South Elementary Schools, expanded Hingham High School roof and HVAC design authorization, and Hingham Municipal Light Plant capital improvements. The HMLP project cost decreased to approximately 97 million dollars from 110 million dollars, with the transmission line and substation at the Hingham Transfer Station estimated at 47.2 million dollars to be funded through bonding and depreciation reserves of approximately 20 million dollars.
The board postponed voting on November 3 debt exclusion ballot questions for the middle school and South Elementary School projects until mid-September.
