Hingham Open Space Committee advances Bickford property acquisition

Hingham Open Space Committee names Allen chair, advances Bickford property acquisition. Gerald Allen was elected chair of the committee, which approved previous meeting minutes 2-0 and is advancing plans to acquire the Bickford property through a Conservation Restriction model. Conservation Officer Shannon Palmer has arranged an appraisal of the property, with plans to submit a preliminary Community Preservation Committee application by September 1, 2026, requesting 10 percent matching funds for an MVP Grant.
The Conservation Restriction approach is intended to protect drinking water sources in Cohasset, Hull, and Hingham.
