Hingham environmental committee targets 250 Black Earth composting households by October. The Cleaner Greener Hingham Committee set the enrollment goal with a coordinated email outreach campaign; committee members Janice McPhillips, Maria Zade, and Peter Swanson will lead geographically specific outreach. The committee plans to promote the program at the Hingham Farmers Market on May 16 and decided to revisit a takeout container bylaw in the fall after assessing Black Earth enrollment success.
DPW Superintendent Lance Mortland reported that a redeemable-cans sign is ready for installation and will explore Eagle Scout involvement in education outreach. Co-Chair McPhillips renewed her committee term.
