HINGHAM — Cleaner Greener Hingham committee charts its 2026-27 environmental education and sustainability agenda. The committee reviewed five priorities including increasing Black Earth compost signups from 178 to 250 by November per Sara Gordon, the Black Earth residential pickup coordinator. Co-Chair Janice McPhillips distributed flyers in roughly 10 local businesses; member Kathleen Scannell will continue outreach at the Transfer Station.
Member Mark Engel reported that state law grants the town regulatory authority over waste haulers, though current regulations impose no numerical limits, and will report findings on more stringent standards.
