Hingham Select Board clears all HCAL permits, votes $515,000 in contracts

Select Board · Meeting of February 17, 2026

Hingham Select Board approves $515,000 in contracts and clears all permits for new senior center. The board unanimously authorized a $53,272.68 agreement with Ockers Technology to replace the town's aging firewall and a $462,672 change order with Dig It Construction, LLC for pump station upgrades on Route 3A, with Sewer Superintendent Russell Tierney noting the station handles roughly 95 percent of North Source District flow. Special Real Estate Counsel Susan Murphy confirmed that all permits for the Center for Active Living at Bear Cove Park Drive are now in hand, Article 97 legislation signed by the governor on February 6, Conservation Commission approval on February 9, a Zoning Board special permit in January, and unanimous Planning Board site plan approval, and told the board that pivoting to the Hitchcock Shoe Building at 225 Beal Street would require at least three additional town meeting appropriations and two to three years of delay, costing $1 million to $1.5 million per year in inflation.

Assistant Town Administrator for Finance Katie Dugan reported the FY27 projected shortfall has dropped from over $1.1 million to approximately $222,000, with final GIC healthcare premium numbers expected in early March.
