Hingham Select Board awards $7.9 million contract for South Shore Country Club pool
Select Board · Meeting of March 10, 2026
Hingham Select Board unanimously awards $7.9 million pool contract and places senior center debt exclusion on ballot. The board voted 3-0 on all actions at its March 10 meeting, authorizing Town Administrator Tom Mayo to sign a $7,896,000 agreement with Construction Dynamics, Inc., of Clinton, for a new community pool and bathhouse at South Shore Country Club, with construction set to begin in May 2026 and a grand opening targeted for June 2027. The board also placed a Proposition 2½ debt exclusion question for the proposed Hingham Center for Active Living on the 2026 Annual Election ballot, approved a $770,000 extraordinary capital needs request for school building repairs at Hingham High School and Plymouth River and South Elementary schools, and authorized installation of 27 new streetlights in the Station Street parking lot.
A vote on the proposed sale or conveyance of Lincoln School Apartments, a 60-unit senior affordable housing property at 86 Central Street, was deferred after neighbors raised concerns about density, the absence of senior-only deed restrictions, and community outreach; Senior Planner Jennifer Orem noted the town's affordable housing rate stands at 10.37 percent and is declining.
