Hingham Select Board Approves Brewery License, Reserve Fund Transfer at Fischer's Farewell Meeting

HINGHAM — April 16, 2025 — Hingham Select Board honors outgoing member Joe Fischer and approves brewery license, reserve fund transfer at April 16 meeting. The board unanimously approved a special farmers market license for Vitamin C Brewing LLC of Weymouth to sell canned beer and hard seltzer on 11 selected Saturdays at the Hingham Farmers Market, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and approved a change of manager at the Fresh Market on Essington Drive to Johnny Kerrion, subject to state liquor authority sign-off. The board also voted unanimously to recommend favorable action on a $387,293 reserve fund transfer request headed to the April 28 annual town meeting, on top of $791,325 already appropriated within the municipal budget under the town's MOU spending framework, with the total recommended FY26 budget holding at $165,757,781. Fischer, leaving the board after six years to serve as a sewer commissioner, was praised by Chair Bill Ramsey for "every vote taken in the six years" being done in the town's best interest, and by former member Mary Bower for leading Hingham's successful push to save MBTA ferry service.
