Hingham Select Board Approves EDM Design Contract for Center for Active Living

HINGHAM — May 13, 2025 — Hingham Select Board unanimously approved a Phase 2 design contract with EDM Studio Incorporated for the Center for Active Living building project at its May 13 meeting. The base contract totals approximately $1.65 million, with optional services that could bring the maximum to roughly $2.2 million; a remaining $347,000 from a 2020 Town Meeting appropriation will be drawn first. Building committee member Tom Kerry told the board the committee "unanimously recommends continuing with EDM" and that the architects have been given the town's warrant deadlines as their target. The board also approved $77,497 for a new transfer station compactor from Waste Quip Manufacturing and $121,984 for a T9 trash trailer from Spectrum Manufacturing, both funded by Town Meeting capital appropriations; authorized filing of state legislation to replace $18,000-$20,000 in annual newspaper legal-notice costs with electronic and bulletin-board postings; and appointed Bryce Achily as a part-time assistant harbor master for a three-year term.
