Select Board approves Vitamin Sea license, HCAL cost update, new ARPA portal designee

Hingham Select Board unanimously approved licenses and administrative actions at its January meeting. The board granted a one-day wine and malt beverages license to Vitamin Sea Brewing for an event at Weir River Farm on January 10 and designated Assistant Town Administrator for Finance Katie Dugan as the authorized user for Plymouth County American Rescue Plan grant applications. Town Administrator Tom Mayo reported total fund balance of $57.77 million in FY25, with unassigned reserves of $38.9 million.
The preliminary FY27 forecast shows a $1.1 million shortfall at this stage, expected to narrow to $300,000 to $400,000 by Annual Town Meeting. The Center for Active Living Building project cost decreased to approximately $29.9 million, with general contractor bids due mid-April and a final town vote on construction funding scheduled for late April.
