Board of Health approves Old Derby mixed-use subdivision

HINGHAM — The Hingham Board of Health unanimously approved a preliminary subdivision plan for a 104-acre mixed-use development at Old Derby Street. The nine-lot project, represented by Bristol Brothers Development Corp. and Attorney Jeff Tocchio, will include a fitness center, restaurants, retail, hotel and residential units, with a wastewater treatment plant handling 300,000 gallons per day. Board Chairperson Dr.
Elizabeth Eldredge raised questions about connecting to the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority sewer system, though applicant representatives indicated the project would proceed with the current plan. The board unanimously approved the preliminary plan and scheduled a tentative meeting with the Sewer Commission for February 11 or 25.
