Hingham Select Board Approves $1.08 Million in FY25 Reserve Fund Transfers

HINGHAM — July 1, 2025 — Hingham Select Board approves $1.08 million in year-end reserve fund transfers and nine committee appointments. The board, meeting July 1, voted unanimously on all seven reserve fund transfers, the largest being a $400,000 transfer to police salaries to cover retroactive collective bargaining payments dating to July 2024 and a $271,651 transfer to legal services, a line item Town Accountant Ann McNutton called a recurring structural deficit. The board also authorized four intra-departmental transfers, including $50,000 to cover retroactive fire union pay, and granted the Select Board chair authority to approve any remaining FY25 transfers under $10,000 through July 15. Chair Bill Ramsey opened the meeting by honoring two Hingham Fire Department deputy chiefs for their response to a fire at the South Shore Sports Center at 55 Recreation Park Drive. Town Administrator Tom Mayo separately announced a $250,000 MassDOT Shared Streets and Spaces grant award targeting pedestrian safety improvements in Lincoln Square.
