Hingham Select Board Adopts $125,520 Opioid Budget, Clears $600K in Year-End Transfers

HINGHAM — June 17, 2025 — Hingham Select Board unanimously approves $125,520 opioid fund budget and nearly $600,000 in year-end transfers at June 17 meeting. The three-member board, chaired by Bill Ramsey with members Julie Strehle and a third member identified as Liz, adopted an FY26 opioid settlement spending plan allocating $60,000 for sober living scholarships, $39,520 for coordinator Elizabeth Miller's salary, and $26,000 for prevention programs; Miller reported 16 scholarships awarded and $96,000 raised at Hingham's first-ever Out of the Darkness walk, which drew 565 registered participants. The board authorized a $57,698 contract with Precision Fitness Equipment Incorporated for the new public safety facility's wellness center and signed off on a $97,642.19 change order to APC Development Group Corporation for the South Shore Country Club function hall after footing deficiencies and window failures were discovered during demolition. Nine year-end budget transfers totaling more than $773,000 were recommended, led by a $410,000 infusion into DPW road maintenance that officials said will bring a backlogged paving schedule back on track. Widowmaker Brewing received a one-day alcohol license to operate a beer garden at Hingham Harbor during the July 2 Independence Day drone light show.
