School Committee · Meeting of August 31, 2026
HINGHAM — The Hingham School Committee voted to raise custodial substitute pay from $18.50 to $23 an hour effective September 6. Staff member Aisha Opong told the committee most comparable staffing units already pay "at least $20 or more," calling the increase overdue after roughly two years without an adjustment. The committee also approved three-year house doctor architecture contracts with Raymond Design Associates, Habib & Associates and Dietz & Company Architects, selected from 17 proposals.
Superintendent Katie reported the district "fully staffed" entering the school year, crediting Mary Ann Foley's HR team. Members also accepted a $400 grant from the Hingham Education Foundation and moved up the fiscal 2028 capital budget timeline, targeting capital approval by December 8 instead of the usual December start.
