Hingham School Committee Ratifies Four-Year Food Service Contract, Accepts $74,640 in Grants
HINGHAM — June 1, 2026 — Hingham School Committee unanimously ratifies food service union contract and accepts $74,640 in foundation grants. The committee voted 8-0 Monday to approve a four-year agreement with Hingham Education Association Unit E food service workers, covering July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2029, with a retroactive 75-cent equity adjustment plus a 3 percent cost-of-living increase for the current year and increases of 3.5, 3.5, and 5 percent in subsequent years, all funded through the district's food services revolving account. The committee also accepted $74,640 in Hingham Education Foundation grants for the 2026-27 school year, including $50,000 toward Bridges in Mathematics classroom furnishings. Angela Theringa, chair of the 2025 School Building Committee, told members that Plymouth River and South Elementary roof projects are headed for a fall 2026 special town meeting vote at the full unsubsidized cost, while the more complex Hingham High School roof and heat pump project — with a confirmed MSBA reimbursement rate of 36.89 percent — targets an April 2027 town meeting, leaving residents to weigh the two projects on separate ballots without knowing the combined price tag.
