Hingham Boards Convene First All-Committee Chair Meeting, Flag Dozens of Warrant Articles

HINGHAM — October 23, 2025 — Hingham's Select Board convened its first all-committee chair meeting, drawing representatives from more than two dozen boards to share priorities ahead of a packed 2026 town meeting warrant. Select Board member Julie Strehle organized the session, citing master plan policy 1.5, and Chair Bill Ramsey said the board may expand the gatherings to three times a year. Ray Estes, vice chair of the 2017 School Building Committee, reported the new Foster School opened under its $113.3 million appropriation with $3.1 million in contingency remaining and solar panels operational as of the meeting date. Community Preservation Committee Chair Nancy McDonald flagged a funding crunch: six projects total just over $2.4 million in requests against an estimated $1.8 million budget. Board of Assessors member Randy Winters told the room Hingham's total assessed real estate value stands at $11 billion, with the average single-family home assessed at $1.3 million, and that the senior means-tested exemption program distributed about $173,000 in tax relief to 90 approved applicants last year.
