Hingham School Committee gives Superintendent Roberts top exemplary rating
HINGHAM — July 21, 2025 — Hingham School Committee unanimously awards Superintendent Katie Roberts an exemplary rating in her first annual evaluation. The committee, voting 6-0 at its July 21 meeting, compiled ratings from all six members finding Roberts proficient or exemplary on all four performance standards and exceeding expectations on three of five superintendent goals, producing the system's highest overall rating. Chair Jen read aloud a composite narrative crediting Roberts with stabilizing a district that had seen five years of significant leadership turnover and noting "remarkable leadership qualities for a first-year superintendent." In separate unanimous votes, the committee approved drawing from the kindergarten revolving account to fund a second new kindergarten section at either East or Foster School, where late-summer registrations had pushed projected class sizes to 23.3 and 23.7 — above policy limits — and authorized use of the preschool revolving account and an early childhood grant to create a new preschool director position, funded outside the town-appropriated operating budget, to lead the district's expanding six-section integrated preschool program. The committee also accepted a $7,344 donation from the South School PTO for new basketball hoops and their installation.
