Hingham School Committee Awards $535,000 Auditorium Upgrade Contract

HINGHAM — September 15, 2025 — Hingham School Committee unanimously awards $535,000 contract to upgrade the high school auditorium's theatrical lighting, sound, and rigging. Vice Chair Michelle Ay presided in Chair Jen Benham's absence at the September 15 meeting, where the committee also accepted a $19,993 Massachusetts DESE world language proficiency grant secured by World Language Director Stacy Turner. Superintendent Dr. Katie Gallo presented September enrollment data showing total district enrollment of 3,599, highlighted by a kindergarten class of 279 — up from 256 a year ago — which she called consistent with third-party projections of rising birth rates and inward migration. The committee approved its 2025-26 goals and updated subcommittee functions but deferred final action on the superintendent's goals pending a presentation from the new executive director of student services. The single bidder on the $535,000 auditorium project was Barbizon Sandabal, with costs covered through the capital account.
