Hingham details plans for Oct. 29 town meeting
The Town of Hingham announced logistics for the town meeting on Oct. 29 at Hingham High School, covering check-in, parking, shuttles, childcare and accessibility accommodations.
The Town of Hingham announced Oct. 21 logistical details for the town meeting scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. at Hingham High School. The release describes the gathering as the "Annual Town Meeting" in its body text, while the warrant mailed to households is titled the "2026 Special Town Meeting Warrant." That warrant contains three articles, which are posted on the town's Town Meeting webpage, and procedures for the meeting are outlined in Hingham's Town Meeting By-Law.
Check-in begins at 5:30 p.m., ahead of the 7 p.m. start. The Town Clerk will run two registration tables, one at the high school's main entrance and another at the back right entrance.
Parking will be available in the high school's front lot and the far lot down Union Street, beyond the ball fields. Once the Union Street lot fills, overflow parking will open at South Shore Baptist Church, 578 Main St. Shuttle buses will run between the high school far lot and the church overflow site from 6 p.m. until 30 minutes after the meeting ends. The Hingham Recreation Department will offer childcare at the Hingham Recreation Center, with reservations available through the Recreation Department website.
Accessibility accommodations include handicapped parking in the high school's front and back lots, transportation for mobility impaired residents through the Hingham Center for Active Living, live closed captioning in the gymnasium and auditorium if opened, marked accessible seating, and accessible restrooms. Residents seeking HCAL transportation must call the HCAL Transportation Coordinator at (781) 741-1458 by the close of business Oct. 27 to reserve a spot. A limited number of large print warrant books will be available on request at registration desks. Residents with accessibility questions can contact the Commission on Disabilities by email at COD@hingham-ma.gov.
