HINGHAM — Harbor Development Committee greenlights May 9 shellfishing education event as Hingham advances toward oyster harvesting. Chaired by Marco Boer and including seven members, the committee approved an event by Mass Oyster at 30 Summer Street and endorsed a high school freshman's Eagle Scout project to restore the summer harbormaster building at Town Wharf by May. Summer 2026 programming includes a July 2 Booty Vortex concert, but the committee faces a $20,000 shortfall after two key sponsors declined to return.
HDC discussed five revenue options ranging from a $50-per-ticket bench raffle to $200 VIP access packages, food truck fees, and off-season "Snowport" events to generate funding.
