HINGHAM — Traffic Committee backs Station Street parking lot lighting overhaul. The committee unanimously approved replacement of 27 light poles and heads following safety and security complaints, with DPW Superintendent Ashley Broyer's team providing labor and Hingham Municipal Light Plant donating staff hours. JR Frey reported the town is partnering with Boston Regional Metropolitan Planning Organization on a Safe Streets for All federal grant targeting three intersections—High/French/Ward Streets, Cushing/Main/South Pleasant Streets, and North/Main Streets through Hingham Center—with traffic calming measures and speed reduction as goals in a bid for zero fatalities by 2050.
The town is also on track to meet a February 18, 2026 deadline for the MassDOT Vulnerable Road User Rectangular Rapid Flash Beacon Grant for new crosswalks.
