HINGHAM — Select Board elects Elizabeth Klein as Chair at May 5 reorganization. The board unanimously approved four licensing and procurement items: an alteration of licensed premises for The Beth to expand outdoor seating to 150 seats; a change of officers and ownership at The Fresh Market of Massachusetts, Inc., contingent on state approval; a Farmer's Market permit for Vitamin Sea Brewing to sell malt beverages from May 16 through November 21; and a $63,072 agreement with Irby Utilities for new streetlamps and poles at the Station Street Parking Lot, to be installed this summer. Chair Klein and board members Strehle and Ramsey discussed the 2026 Annual Town Meeting, noting approval of the balanced budget and sale of 230 North Street alongside failures of the Center for Active Living project and two property conveyance proposals, and acknowledged upcoming financial challenges including likely future override need.
