Select Board backs $29.9M senior center and civil service exit for police and fire

HINGHAM — Select Board unanimously endorses $29.9M Center for Active Living and civil service exit plan. Chair Bill Ramsey, along with board members Liz Klein and Julie Strehle, voted to recommend favorable action on the senior center project and appropriations for Police and Fire union payments covering the departments' negotiated departure from civil service hiring rules. The board also voted unanimously to recommend the Library Chiller Replacement Project at approximately $1,810,084, accepted two preservation restrictions for historic properties, and appointed Declan Bolan to the Mass Port Community Advisory Committee.
Two property sale articles, for 8 Short Street and 230 North Street, received recommendations against action.
