Recreation Commission advances summer staffing and capital projects.

Recreation Commission · Meeting of May 5, 2026

Hingham Recreation Commission approved summer staffing and capital projects at its May 5 meeting. Chair Vicki Donlan reported nearly 170 summer staff members, lifeguards, and counselors-in-training hired, with orientations set for June 10 and June 13. Spring program registrations totaled 294 across East Explorers and Foster PLUS.

The Turf Maintenance budget, passed at Town Meeting, will fund field care using steel tines to avoid soil damage; the PRS Basketball Court Project renovation will begin summer 2027 due to school calendar constraints. The FY 2026 budget remains strong, with camp invoices expected to be processed in coming weeks.
