Planning Board approves four homes, continues two applications

HINGHAM — Planning Board approves four residential projects, continues two for further deliberation. Chair Tracy Shriver and members Carr, Tondorf-Dick, Ellis, and Kelly unanimously approved site plan reviews for reconstructions at 1192 Main Street, 81 Kimball Beach Road, 35 Smith Road, and 222 South Pleasant Street. Applications for 4 Del Prete Drive and 23 Otis Hill Road were continued; the board expressed concerns that the latter project's floor area ratio was double the neighborhood average and the rear elevation reached maximum height, prompting continued review until May 4.
Member Tondorf-Dick noted the board is wrestling with scale-and-character issues and has established a Residential Compatibility Standards Subcommittee to examine the balance between open space and lot coverage.
