Town Meeting · Meeting of October 29, 2026

Hingham Town Meeting approved funding for two school roof replacement projects and advanced design work on a major high school HVAC overhaul. Voters unanimously backed $8.58 million for a South Elementary School roof replacement, with the town paying an estimated $5.52 million after a $3,054,678 Massachusetts School Building Authority grant, and $16.37 million for a Plymouth River Elementary School roof and structural overhaul, with the town's share at $11,745,525. A motion to reconsider the Plymouth River vote failed.

Town Meeting also approved, by a two-thirds vote, an additional $1,115,000 to continue design of a roof and HVAC project at Hingham High School, now estimated at $90 million to $110 million, up from $40.3 million in 2025. The Advisory Committee split 10-2 in favor; minority member Mary Power said, "A yes vote tonight commits the Town to Option 1," the geothermal heat-pump system chosen by the School Building Committee.
