Hingham school projects advance toward voter approval. The School Building Committee unanimously approved warrant articles for South Elementary and Plymouth River Elementary roof projects, scheduled for fall 2026 town action, and for the Hingham High School roof and HVAC work to appear in spring 2027. Structural engineers identified a cementitious deck at Plymouth River that cannot support current snow-load codes and requires full replacement, a finding that may increase project costs and affect interior finishes.
For the High School HVAC decision, the Committee requested verification of an assumed $11 million federal Inflation Reduction Act geothermal tax credit and an updated life-cycle cost analysis excluding that credit before endorsing ground-source geothermal over lower-cost air-source alternatives.
