Hingham approves $1.3M library chiller replacement, shifts police recruitment model. The Select Board unanimously authorized a $1,300,000 contract with Riverdale Plumbing & Heating Inc. for the library chiller, with construction beginning in September 2026 and completion by June 2027. In another unanimous vote, the board approved language removing Hingham from the state Civil Service system for police hiring, allowing the Hingham Police Department to conduct its own entrance examinations and recruit candidates specifically interested in working for the department.
