Hingham Advisory Committee unanimously backs $70M utility borrowing

HINGHAM — Advisory Committee unanimously approves $70 million for light utility borrowing. The Hingham Advisory Committee, chaired by Carol Tully, unanimously approved a recommendation for up to $70 million in borrowing for Hingham Municipal Light project improvements, clearing the way for a warrant article at the spring town meeting. HMLP liaison Elaine Cusker presented the borrowing authorization, which includes clarifying language about cumulative rate increases totaling 6.91 percent over three years.
The committee also heard presentation on a proposed $32 million Center for Active Living construction project and the town's debt position, showing approximately $416 million in remaining borrowing capacity.
