GAR Trustees defer camera decision, address facility access and elevator status

GAR Hall Trustees · Meeting of January 13, 2026

HINGHAM — The GAR Hall Trustees tentatively approved installation of Google Home-Nest security cameras but deferred a purchase decision pending technical review. Trustees Bob Beal, Paul Koenen, and Scott McMillan, meeting with Veterans Services Office director Shannon Burke, approved a piano sale with proceeds directed to the GAR Hall Fund and directed Burke to draft a Code of Conduct addendum to the facility's License agreement. Burke reported that Community Preservation Committee funding for the elevator remains pending and that the new Delta-Beckwith maintenance contract covers all work during normal business hours; the board will post warning signage to prevent basement-level access that could trigger an elevator shutdown.

Emergency-closure protocols will restrict access to Trustees and VSO staff only.
