Development and Industrial Commission · Meeting of February 26, 2026
HINGHAM — The Hingham Development and Industrial Commission unanimously approved its 2025 annual report and advanced work on an economic development sites and buildings inventory, with member Katie McHardy using artificial intelligence to format and consolidate sites against ReadyMass 100 criteria. Co-Chair Mike Galvin and staff member Art Robert secured state designation of the South Shore Chamber as a Regional Economic Development Organization, unlocking grant funding for Hingham's inventory project and commercial data access. The commission discussed Rev250, a May 15-16 economic initiative featuring Hingham Historical Society events and a Town-led Battle of Grape Island commemoration, with plans to market Hingham Square to FIFA World Cup visitors traveling to Foxborough matches on June 20 and June 27.
Robert presented two warrant articles for Town Meeting seeking authorization to sell 8 Short Street and 230 North Street for commercial development.
