Council on Aging approves prior meeting minutes, addresses staff transitions

Hingham's Council on Aging unanimously approved minutes from two April meetings and prepared for leadership transitions. Vice Chair Sara Smithson presided in the absence of Chair Joe Nevens and reported the Select Board is considering next steps following a Town Meeting defeat of a council-backed project. The nominating committee, comprising Leon Merian, Karen Johnson, and Megan Hansen, will hold a public meeting to nominate replacements for three vacating members before the June 30 term end date; all appointees must be at least 60 years old.
South Shore Elder Services lost its Area Service Plan designation for 11 communities, with the Office on Cape Cod and the Islands taking over as the new provider.
