HINGHAM — The Council on Aging unanimously approved its fiscal 2027 Goals and Priorities document on September 8. Chair Sara Smithson said she will request a joint Select Board meeting to discuss senior services after residents raised concerns about budget adequacy and accessibility. The Director's Report showed August programming attracted 109 attendees across three events, while facility improvements underway include grab bars in restrooms, renovation of former police headquarters offices into multipurpose rooms, and patio refresh work.
The Council discussed kiosk options costing 5,000 or 3,600 dollars to reduce check-in crowding, and Member Joe Nevins agreed to draft a letter exploring Council fundraising opportunities. The Council plans to revise and distribute the annual appeal by October's end.
