Conservation Commission defers Route 3A vote pending parcel history review.

HINGHAM — The Hingham Conservation Commission held a workshop on the Route 3A Improvement Project but postponed a vote pending completion of parcel acquisition history. Chair Carolyn Nielsen, Town Engineer JR Frey, and design consultant Eric Carlson presented the scope, which includes safety improvements, roadway reconfiguration, and a shared-use path requiring changes to Article 97 conservation land. Mitigation options under review include private property acquisition, town property exchanges, or payment in lieu.
Conservation Officer Shannon Palmer said the Commission will need to address deed restrictions and land-use restrictions before voting at a future March meeting, with a Notice of Intent expected to be filed in spring.
