Commission on Disabilities approves GAR building elevator support.
Commission on Disabilities · Meeting of April 15, 2026
HINGHAM — Commission on Disabilities unanimously supports installation of an accessible elevator in the GAR building. Jessica Foley chaired the April 15 remote meeting, with four members present and two absent. The Commission also pursued accessibility improvements elsewhere: Chair Stephanie Gertz will investigate state law limits on Commission grant authority, while members worked to boost engagement on a school accessibility survey that received only seven responses.
The Library Director rejected a request to purchase the OWL recording system, citing insufficient staff, though Cohasset and Scituate libraries reported successful deployment. Town officials confirmed commitment to bringing a Public Safety Building door into compliance with newly released accessibility guidance.
