Climate Action Commission · Meeting of August 12, 2026
Hingham Climate Action Commission unanimously adopts revised Charter and elects Elliott Place as Chair. The August 12, 2026 meeting marked the Commission's first gathering since April's Town Meeting restructured it to dissolve the Energy Action Committee and expand membership to 15 seats including a Weir River Water System designee. Brad Moyer, the outgoing Chair, was elected Vice Chair.
Brad Moyer reported that municipal site visits for the Decarbonization Roadmap are complete, with technical consultant ICF expected to deliver a draft roadmap by April 2027. The Commission confirmed working groups spanning transportation, schools, buildings, carbon inventory, and community engagement, and noted that Hingham High School renovation—accounting for roughly 20 percent of municipal greenhouse gas emissions—presents a critical near-term opportunity.
