Capital Outlay hears $1.7 million in department budget requests

HINGHAM — Capital Outlay Committee reviews $1.71 million in capital requests from three town departments. Town Hall Maintenance requested $177,160 for boiler and heat pump replacements and LED lighting completion. The Harbormaster requested $290,000 for a replacement patrol vessel and drone system, backed by a $1.32 million federal Homeland Security grant with 25 percent town match.

Police Chief David Jones requested $1.24 million for equipment including $409,464 for Tasers and $337,000 for a VirTra simulator system, accounting for more than two-thirds of the total capital request.
