Board of Health continues hearing on Chief Justice Cushing septic violations
Board of Health · Meeting of March 11, 2026
Hingham Board of Health continues septic violation hearing at Chief Justice Cushing Highway. Dr. Elizabeth Eldredge, Chairperson, presided over the public hearing on violations of the State Sanitary Code and Title 5, which identified excessive soil cover over the septic field and an incorrectly sized 2000-gallon septic tank instead of the required 1500 gallons.
The property owner has occupied the dwelling without completing required corrections or obtaining an occupancy permit, taking no action over at least nine months. The Board unanimously voted to continue the hearing to March 25, 2026, with the owner ordered to complete a Title 5 inspection and submit final as-built documentation and a signed Certificate of Compliance.
