Hingham Board of Health approves septic variances for Main Street property. The board unanimously approved eight variances for a proposed septic system upgrade at 1154 Main Street, which borders wetlands and a tributary to surface water supply. The most substantial variance permits a 20-foot setback from the septic absorption system to the tributary, compared to the 200 feet normally required under state code.
Board members Elizabeth Eldredge, M.D., Rosemary Byrne, N.P., and Mark Lundin voted in favor without opposition. The applicant must next present the plan to the town Conservation Commission and state Department of Environmental Protection for final approval.
