Advisory Committee unanimously backs library chiller and reserve fund articles

Advisory Committee · Meeting of March 19, 2026

Hingham Advisory Committee recommends two warrant articles on fiscal planning. The committee unanimously approved recommendations for Article Q, a $1,485,540 Public Library chiller replacement, and Article K, a reserve fund transfer. On Article FF, a $1.4 million health care subsidy proposal to increase the town's share of employee health insurance premiums from 50 percent to 60 percent for Fiscal Year 2027, members divided with the majority opposing a one-time subsidy, arguing the expense should be budgeted rather than subsidized ad hoc.

Assistant Town Administrator Katie Dugan reported that town health insurance premiums increased 7.1 percent, eliminating a previously projected $239,000 shortfall for Fiscal Year 2027.
