Advisory Committee backs $73.9M education budget despite member dissent

Hingham Advisory Committee approves comprehensive $183.7 million budget package for town meeting. The committee backed the education budget of $73,880,041 with abstentions from Ben Burnham and Jerry Seelen and a no vote from Steven Pohl. Other unanimously approved budgets included Public Safety at $21,454,224, Debt Service at $13,893,125, and Employee Benefits at $19,848,370.

The committee rejected a 1.4 million dollar health care subsidy proposal but approved a 100 thousand dollar study into long-term solutions.
